World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to an item are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase the rarity of an item or mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Upgrades to gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item gets upgraded, its basic stats are increased in value. This value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, dependent on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to the fact that many perks must be replaced to allow the item to be upgraded.

Item level is a widely used measurement of power and is visible on all item tooltips. It also serves as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). The average level of the item can be found in the character sheet.

Using the item level will allow players to compare the power of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It's an excellent gauge of an item's worth and how much damage it will be able to deal. Comparing items in the inventory of a seller is possible using the item level.

The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the complete description of the item, including its ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories about how the item level is calculated. One theory says that the item level is determined by an equation that determines the worth of the stats of an item really are. It takes into consideration that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in the sockets boost the value of the item. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually quite close to the actual Blizzard item level.

However, this is not the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, as the level of the area the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have higher value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in many ways to encourage players not to restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn increased by the player's skill.

The upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare levels will be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.

Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to provide items with extra damage, special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to make them unique by adding a name.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. It will cost a set amount in gold and items. These can be used as upgrade gauges just like the other methods of rerolling.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which of the available stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However, all items will include at least one stat within that range unless they are an item that is unique or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attachments, or pick which stats to enhance. Like base equipment, it must be done per item and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat for a player adds up to increase the likelihood of finding items, the properties spawned on loot drops and the strength of those properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to  upgrade item s. It gives the player the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is more useful in the early game, because players tend to put defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading that increase with each item level. It is also possible to be increased with the use of anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of an item, up to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon that is infused with hollow, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any skill that causes damage by 5percent. These items can be found in the shops or made using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items are costly and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chances of success for an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item if it fails.

When you upgrade an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved and the probability of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%.

The Luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. All items have an overall success rate of 25 percent and every item with Luck increases this chance by five percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects may be masked by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
